There is something rewarding about entering peoples’ lives through the lens of my camera, to capture images that tell the story. I believe that is what good photography should do, tell a visual story! It survives the fads of fashion and helps us to remember who we are. I love photographing people, all people!
Armed with a Bachelors Degree in Photo Arts from Ryerson University, I started working as a photojournalist where I was introduced to the “pain and pleasure of location photography”. Since newspapers often want one image per story, I quickly learned to “capture the moment”. To be an effective visual, it had to be a strong image!
Travel and tourism photography followed, affording me the wonderful opportunity to explore the world. My goal was to make places and people beautiful and attractive, so that you want to go there! This was a great experience where using colors effectively made the image jump out and grab hold of you!
About twelve years ago, a friend of mine asked me to shoot her wedding. She wanted casual candid photos and knew that with my photojournalism experience, I would have the vision to portray her special day. That was my first wedding and I loved it!
Working for the newspaper and travel industry has taught me to work in any condition, to work fast and especially to be able to make people feel at ease so that their images are live and beautiful, rather than staged. Through the use of Photoshop, I can now create a stronger more powerful image in postproduction. But you have to start off with a good image to make it great!
And there you have it. Now that you have an idea of my work, don’t be shy, get in touch with me. Ask me questions and remember, I am open to any suggestions that can help me to get you the best possible images of your wedding day.
